If students are unable to achieve competency, additional support is provided through mentoring and access to re-assessment, as outlined in our policies and procedures. As this is a competency-based program, assessment continues throughout the program until the participant either achieves competency in the assessment tasks or a further training need is identified and addressed.
AIT meets requirements listed under Clause 1.8 of Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 regarding the effective implementation of an assessment system that ensures that assessment (including recognition of prior learning):
- Complies with the assessment requirements of the relevant training package or VET-accredited course; and
- Is conducted in accordance with the Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence which are:
- Fairness
- Flexibility
- Validity
- Reliability
RPL & Credit Transfer
The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway is designed for individuals who have previously gained expertise and understanding from sources other than formal education and training systems. This encompasses both work and life experiences.
Credit transfer involves a procedure that ensures students receive consistent and mutually agreed-upon credit results for specific segments of a qualification. This relies on established correspondences in content and learning outcomes between correlated qualifications. Once an RPL or Credit Transfer (CT) application is successfully completed, adjustments will be enacted regarding the units to be undertaken and the overall duration of the course.
In instances where RPL is approved, participants are exempt from undergoing supplementary training and assessment for proficiencies and knowledge they already possess.
Delivery
Training will be conducted face to face on a full-time basis, both in a classroom and practical training at AIT’s workshop with access to a simulated environment.
Classroom sessions for the theory component of the course will be held at the following locations:
